Gordon MacLennan

Gordon is Chief Executive of Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT), based in Glasgow. SPT is responsible for the delivery, development and provision of high quality sustainable transport choices for the West of Scotland in order to assist the growth of the Scottish economy and to enable all people who are living, working or visiting the West of Scotland to share in the benefits of this growth.

An Engineer by training, Gordon has held senior posts in the private and public sectors. He was formerly director of manufacturing for John Brown Engineering, Clydebank, and subsequently chief executive of Business Ventures, a public sector organisation which assisted entrepreneurs to start and develop potential high growth companies.

Prior to his current role he was senior director of business growth at Scottish Enterprise, responsible for the business portfolio of companies based in Glasgow. As part of this remit he had responsibility for the development of media based companies, some of which were producing Gaelic content for broadcast. He is keen to see these media companies develop a sustainable business model.

The son of Lewis parents who were born in the Garenin black houses, Gordon still returns to Dalmore in the Isle of Lewis whenever time affords.
