Rhoda Meek

Rhoda was born and brought up in Edinburgh. She was among the first group of children to receive education through the medium of Gaelic at Tollcross Primary School in Edinburgh, and continued with Gaelic through secondary school in Aberdeen. Although she has spent most of her time on the mainland she retains close links with her father’s island, Tiree. At the age of seventeen she created one of the first Gaelic websites, ‘Gaelic Online’. After a brief period at university and six months’ working as a chef, Rhoda moved to BBC Scotland, working on Dè a-nis?.

She spent five years on Dè a-nis? as a presenter and researcher, as well as working in many other departments. After leaving the BBC, she spent some time as Gaelic Community Outreach Officer at the Scottish Parliament. She now works for Deiseal Ltd, who manage the Gaelic learning system, Ùlpan, as an IT Developer and Designer.
