Shona MacLennan is a self-employed rural development consultant who lives near Dornie in Lochalsh. She is a director of Grampian TV Ltd and of Highlands & Islands Airports Ltd, a member of Sabhal Mòr Ostaig Development Committee and was previously a director of the UHI Millennium Institute. She started learning Gaelic at primary school, was dissuaded from studying it in secondary school but subsequently studied Latin and Celtic at the University of Edinburgh. On leaving University, she moved to Skye where she worked in a number of different organisations, many of them involved in Gaelic development.
