MG ALBA – About Us
MG ALBA is the operating name of Seirbheis nam Meadhanan Gàidhlig (Gaelic Media Service), which was established under the Communications Act 2003 and originally incorporated under the Broadcasting Act 1990 as the Gaelic Television Committee.
Its function is to secure that a wide and diverse range of high quality programmes in Gaelic are broadcast or otherwise transmitted so as to be available to persons in Scotland.
The digital media partnership of MG ALBA and the BBC provides an integrated Gaelic television, radio and online service. The television channel BBC ALBA and the radio station BBC Radio nan Gaidheal are licensed by the BBC Trust. The partnership is governed by Bòrd ALBA, comprising representatives of MG ALBA and BBC Scotland.
