CRAIG BROWN TO LEAD CAMPAIGN AGAINST TEAM GB

Former Scotland Manager, Craig Brown, has revealed he is to head up a NO TO TEAM GB petition within Scottish Football.

In a two-part interview to be broadcast on BBC ALBA this Saturday and Sunday, Craig Brown reveals he is strongly against a GB team saying “I don’t trust FIFA”.

Speaking exclusively on BBC ALBA’s sports programme ‘Spòrs’, the former Scotland Manager discusses his belief that FIFA is now trying to streamline world football as a consequence of the dramatic increase in the number of national teams that emerged in the 1990s due to the break-up of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia.

His comments come ahead of an expected announcement next week detailing an official campaign, fronted by Craig Brown, against a Team GB for football at the 2012 Olympics.

Alan Esslemont, Head of Content at BBC ALBA, said: “Craig’s interview gives a fascinating insight into his beliefs about Scottish football and in particular the current debate about a Team GB for the 2012 Olympics.

“We are continually looking to enhance our sports package and this interview is a good example of providing our viewers with relevant and valuable content. BBC ALBA’s sports package is proving highly popular and has been a great success since our launch.”

The first part of Craig Brown’s interview will be broadcast during BBC ALBA’s Spòrs on Saturday night between 8-10pm and part two will be broadcast in Sunday Spòrs between 2.30-4.30pm. BBC ALBA is available on Sky channel 168 and on Freesat channel 110.

During the interview, Craig Brown also discusses the highlights of his career and being part of the World Cup Finals in Mexico in 1986 with Sir Alex Ferguson.
