PARTICK THISTLE V DUNDEE - LIVE SFL COVERAGE ON BBC ALBA
Partick Thistle v Dundee will be broadcast live on BBC ALBA this Sunday (22 March), with a kick-off time of 3.15pm.
This match will be the second in the package of three live televised First Division league games on BBC ALBA over the next few months. Discussions regarding live coverage of the two end of season play-off matches are continuing.
BBC ALBA is a partnership service between BBC Scotland and MG ALBA. BBC ALBA is available on Sky channel 168 and on Freesat channel 110.
David Longmuir, chief executive of the SFL, said: “MG ALBA has been an excellent broadcast partner since it became sponsor of The Challenge Cup last year.
“I am delighted that the new TV channel recognises the excitement, passion and community values that the Scottish Football League can offer, and I look forward to developing this relationship in the months ahead.”
Alan Esslemont, head of content for BBC ALBA, said: "Live coverage of the first SFL match in this package, Airdrie v Clyde, proved a real success for us and we very much look forward to Sunday. The last two head to head matches between Partick Thistle and Dundee have been close encounters and with the teams currently sitting second and third respectively, Sunday’s match should be one not to miss. Live television coverage will hopefully provide added confidence to both teams ahead of the match.”
Alan Archibald, Partick Thistle FC Captain, said: ““We are delighted BBC ALBA has chosen to cover our game against Dundee as a live match. It’s a massive fixture for both clubs with us sitting second and Dundee third. I’m sure it’ll be a great game of football for both the people in the stands and at home.
“Every game in this league is a must win match and with the race for promotion being so tight, it is great that BBC ALBA are covering First Division matches.”
Eric Paton, Dundee FC captain said: “There is great anticipation among the players ahead of Sunday’s game. There should be a great atmosphere at the stadium and we are delighted that the fans at home will have the chance to sample this and watch the game on BBC ALBA. There has been little between us and Partick Thistle in our games so far this season and I’m sure this match will be equally close.”
The package of live SFL games enhances BBC ALBA’s comprehensive sports offering which includes the ‘as-live’ SPL matches on Saturday nights as well as five live shinty matches to be televised throughout summer.
