TRIAL & RETRIBUTION IN SKYE
Renowned Scottish actor offered a helping hand recently at the ‘Front of Camera’ workshop run by FilmG and the RSAMD which took place at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig in Skye.

David Hayman at the FilmG workshop in Skye.
Twelve participants were given the fantastic opportunity of learning acting skills from a true professional in the form of David Hayman, well known for his role as DCI Walker in the TV drama ‘Trial & Retribution’, amongst many others.
The students also received expert tuition on presenting for camera from industry expert Morag Stewart, who runs the production company ‘Sealladh’, based at the College.
FilmG is MG ALBA’s Gaelic digital shorts competition, managed by Cànan, and available for all to view and enjoy on www.filmg.co.uk.

FilmG aims to unearth new creative talent in the area of Gaelic media. As part of the competition, the FilmG team have been running workshops in all aspects of short film making. Since the training began in July, over 78 people have taken part in workshops from Uist to Dundee and Elgin to Edinburgh, learning skills ranging from story development, directing and presenting to camera work, sound and editing.
FilmG is open to anyone over the age of 12, providing they don’t already have a broadcast credit as a director or producer. This year’s theme is Làmh an Uachdar (The Upper Hand) and the deadline for entries is 19 November 2010.
Although workshops have now come to an end, there is still plenty of help and advice available through the FilmG website at www.filmg.co.uk, and if anyone wishes any further information they can contact the FilmG team on fios@filmg.co.uk or call Helen MacKinnon on 01471 888 513.
