FIRST LIVE HOGMANAY SHOW ON BBC ALBA

BBC ALBA will host a live Hogmanay Show from Stornoway, a fitting way to end the new Scottish Gaelic channel's launch year.
A live audience at Studio Alba will celebrate in style as they welcome in the New Year in traditional fashion with a ceilidh dance and live musical performances.
The Hogmanay Show, Bliadhna Mhath Ùr will be presented by Tony Kearney, star of River City and Morag Dhòmhnallach of BBC Radio nan Gàidheal and will feature top Gaelic performers including Julie Fowlis, Sineag Macintyre, Na h-Òganaich, Our Small Capital and Norrie Maciver with guest artistes.
Alan Esslemont, Head of Content at BBC ALBA said: “2008 will certainly be a year to remember in the Gaelic community with the successful launch of Scotland's new channel, BBC ALBA. What better way to celebrate our launch year than to host our own live Hogmanay party, which is shaping up to be a spectacular show and one not to be missed."

I have been involved in a lot of live radio shows over the years so I am really looking forward to being part of this momentous television broadcast at this celebratory time of year. Bliadhna Mhath Ùr begins at 23:30 on BBC ALBA. The 1 hour 45 minute show, which is also being broadcast simultaneously on BBC Radio nan Gàidheal, can be seen on Sky channel 168 and Freesat channel 110.
