QUEEN OF THE SOUTH V ROSS COUNTY – CHALLENGE CUP FINAL – LIVE ON TV
BBC ALBA will this weekend televise exclusive live coverage of the ALBA Challenge Cup final between Queen of the South and Ross County.
Coverage of the match from McDiarmid Park in Perth begins on the channel at 2.50pm, with kick-off at 3pm.

Queen of the South’s path to the ALBA Challenge Cup final included wins over Albion Rovers, Dunfermline and East Fife, before a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Peterhead secured the Doonhamers place in the final.

Ross County also negotiated a tricky route to the final, playing Elgin, Morton and Forfar Athletic before overcoming Patrick Thistle on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the semi-final.

With the final originally scheduled to be played last November but postponed due to the weather, both sides will be eagerly anticipating the chance to finally get their hands on the silverware.
The last meeting of the sides was in the league in March when Queen of the South made the trip to Victoria Park in Dingwall and ran out 2-1 winners. Andy Barrowman put County ahead in the match before a Bob Harris penalty and a David Weatherston strike secured three points for the Dumfries side.
Alan Esslemont, Head of Content for BBC ALBA said: “Having waited so long for the rearranged ALBA Challenge Cup final, both teams will be raring to go ahead of Sunday’s match and we are delighted that BBC ALBA will be there to provide exclusive live coverage.
“The tournament provides a great chance for SFL clubs to participate in a showcase final and as with many of the finals from previous seasons, we hope that it will be an memorable end to a great cup competition.
“Our coverage of the final further demonstrates our commitment to football and wider Scottish sport and we hope that dedicated fans and football enthusiasts will tune-in to BBC ALBA to see Queen of the South and Ross County battle it out. We are all hoping for an exciting match and we wish both teams well as they prepare for the game.”
The final complements BBC ALBA’s premier sports package, which includes ‘as-live’ coverage of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League every Saturday night, plus exclusive live rugby action from the Magners League.
