MCGEADY AND BOUGHERRA SPEAK EXCLUSIVELY ON BBC ALBA’S ‘CLUB TV’

BBC ALBA’s monthly CLUB TV, which sees Celtic FC and Rangers FC come together for a unique magazine style football programme, continues this week with exclusive interviews with first team players Aiden McGeady of Celtic and Madjid Bougherra of Rangers.

The programme will be broadcast tomorrow night (Wednesday 24 February) at 10.30pm and will provide exclusive interviews with the respective club managers, Tony Mowbray and Walter Smith, plus key players from the first teams and youth development.

CLUB TV is presented by former club players Tom Boyd and Arthur Numan, along with Gaelic sports anchor Calum Macaulay.

In the latest programme of the series, Walter Smith picks the five players who have most impressed him throughout his career from his time as coach at Dundee United, to manager of Rangers, Everton and Scotland, whilst Tony Mowbray discusses how he came to be at Celtic as a player in the early nineties as well as discussing the players he most respected during his playing career at the club.

Speaking to Aiden McGeady, CLUB TV provides an insight into the first team player’s thoughts on the influx of new players. McGeady believes new loan signing Robbie Keane is at the club to do more than just score goals, saying: “Keane is a clever link-up player and when you are on the ball, you know that Keane can make intelligent runs.”

From Rangers, CLUB TV hears from Madjid Bougherra who is back at the heart of the Rangers defence after helping Algeria reach the semi finals of the Africa Cup of Nations. Madjid talks about his hopes for success with Rangers this season, the prospect of facing England in this summer’s World Cup Finals and why he is loving life in Glasgow.

The programme will also feature interviews with key youth players from both clubs. Josh Thompson (18) reveals his ambitions to become a first choice defender in the Celtic first team and is not perturbed by playing alongside older and differing players. Rangers only Gaelic speaking player, defender Stuart Urquhart (14) talks about his move from Hamilton Academical last summer, his hopes for the future, and the role models he finds himself surrounded by at Murray Park.

Highlights will be provided from the SPL and Scottish Cup over the past month along with some U19 league action as well as the SFA Youth Cup quarter final nine goal thriller at Tannadice.

CLUB TV is produced for BBC ALBA by mneTV. This week’s programme is being broadcast on Wednesday 24th February at 10.30pm and repeated on Thursday 25th at 11.30pm.
