WALTER SMITH AND TONY MOWBRAY SPEAK EXCLUSIVELY
ON BBC ALBA’S ‘CLUB TV’
Following Sunday’s Old Firm derby, the second in the series of BBC ALBA’s monthly CLUB TV programme, which sees Celtic FC and Rangers FC come together for a unique magazine style football programme, will be broadcast tomorrow night (Wednesday 6th) at 10.30pm.
The programme will provide exclusive interviews with the respective club managers, Tony Mowbray and Walter Smith plus key players from the first team including Celtic and Greece striker, Georgios Samaras and Rangers defender, Kirk Broadfoot.
CLUB TV is presented by former club players Tom Boyd and Arthur Numan respectively, along with Gaelic Sports anchor Calum MacAulay.
In the second programme of the series Walter Smith speaks exclusively to CLUB TV about his role as Rangers manager and when asked about his future, said: “This is a job I’ve loved doing and I don’t see myself doing another once I finish with this one.”
Tony Mowbray reflects on his first six months as Celtic manager, saying: “I don’t think anything prepares you for this job. I’m pretty sure Sir Alex Ferguson or Arsène Wenger could come and do this job and find it different from the one they’re doing.”
Now fit again, Rangers defender Kirk Broadfoot speaks to CLUB TV about spending most of 2009 out injured: “I had my mind set that I was going to come back fitter and stronger. I only had one goal - that was to get back in the first team.”
Looking ahead to the season, Celtic and Greece striker Georgios Samaras reveals his twin aims for the season: “What I want to do is perform well for Celtic, to win the title, and to keep my health to be ready for the World Cup.”
The programme will also bring interviews from the youth and ladies teams as well as match action from first team games, covering every aspect of both clubs from community initiatives to youth development, as well as highlights from behind the scenes.
BBC ALBA has an ongoing commitment to broadcasting both grassroots and professional sport throughout Scotland. CLUB TV complements the existing sports offering which includes as-live coverage of one Clydesdale Bank Premier League match every Saturday night and a package of five live SFL matches throughout this season.
CLUB TV is produced for BBC ALBA by mneTV. The second programme is being broadcast on Wednesday 6th January at 10.30pm and repeated on Thursday 7th at 11.30pm and on Saturday 9th at 8pm.
