BBC ALBA ENJOYS MORE THAN A PIT STOP WITH FORMULA ONE STAR DAVID COULTHARD
Saturday 14 February, 8pm, BBC ALBA
David Coulthard, 13 times Grand Prix winner, who has enjoyed 15 seasons in Formual1 and has been on the podium 62 times, speaks exclusively in an interview for BBC ALBA’s ‘Spòrs’ programme to be broadcast this Saturday 14 February.
Providing an in-depth look at his career, David Coulthard talks openly about his battle with bulimia when he was an up-and-coming racing driver and talks about the shock he felt when he was first asked to ‘move over’ by Damon Hill, not understanding the instruction when he was leading the ‘94 Monza Grand Prix.
The world of Formula1 is very glamorous but David outlines it’s extremely hard work and embarrassing given the media demands and congratulations following a victory, as competing is not for the adulation.
Having a family has made David Coulthard more appreciative of what his own parents did for him and reaffirms the happiness he has for his own home country, feeling most at home in Scotland as life in Monaco is very transient.
David has enjoyed his journey but has realised that you don’t need to go off on a world journey to be a sportsman for a healthy happy life. David says: “I’ve recognised that I’ve had two lives and they’ve both been great.”
The interview will be broadcast during BBC ALBA’s Spòrs programme on Saturday, 14 February between 8-10pm, which will be broadcasting as-live coverage of the SPL match between Dundee United and Inverness Caledonian Thistle. BBC ALBA is available on Sky channel 168 and on Freesat channel 110.
