BBC ALBA’S AS-LIVE SPL COVERAGE CONTINUES WITH HAMILTON V ST JOHNSTONE
Football fans will this weekend get the chance to watch exclusive ‘as-live’ coverage of Hamilton Academical v St Johnstone as BBC ALBA continues its coverage of the 2010/2011 SPL season.
Saturday’s game at New Douglas Park will be broadcast at 5.30pm on BBC ALBA, which is available on Sky channel 168 and on Freesat channel 110. The games broadcast on BBC ALBA are matches that are not covered live by either Sky Sports or ESPN.
Last season, Hamilton had the upper hand in fixtures between the sides after two wins, one draw and one defeat in their four SPL clashes.
Their last match in May saw Accies win 3-2 at McDiarmid Park and secure seventh place in the final SPL table – one place above St Johnstone.
Hamilton had raced into an early two-goal lead through Mark McLaughlin and Dougie Imrie before strikes by St Johnstone pair Murray Davidson and Liam Craig leveled the score. However, James Wesolowski’s late strike for Hamilton was enough to secure the win and ensure Accies ended the season two points head of their Perth rivals.
As well as full match coverage of this Saturday’s game, the team will also catch up with St Johnstone’s Canadian striker Marcus Haber, who joined the club in the summer on a year-loan deal from English Premier League side West Bromwich Albion.
In this week’s Q+A we catch up with St Johnstone defender Danny Grainger, and there will be an extended look behind the scenes at one of the SFA’s regular referee fitness sessions. We watch as the referees are put through their paces, getting themselves ready for the demanding autumn/winter game schedule.
BBC ALBA is providing a premier sports package in association with mneTV covering one Clydesdale Bank Premier League match every Saturday night over the next two seasons. The programme will be hosted by Calum MacAulay and Anne Morrison.
BBC ALBA is a partnership service between MG ALBA and BBC Scotland which will deliver high quality, distinctive home-produced programming.
