LIVE MAGNERS LEAGUE ACTION ON BBC ALBA WITH COVERAGE OF EDINBURGH & GLASGOW MATCHES
Scarlets V Glasgow Warriors
BBC ALBA – Friday 29th October 20:00
Leinster V Edinburgh Rugby
BBC ALBA – Saturday 30th October 18:00
BBC ALBA’s rugby coverage continues this weekend with two more live Magners League matches as Glasgow travel to face Scarlets and Edinburgh make the trip to Dublin to face Leinster.
Coverage of the Glasgow match will begin this Friday at 8:00pm and both matches will be presented by Murray MacLeod with commentary from Hugh Dan MacLennan and DJ MacIntyre.
Last weekend Glasgow triumphed 31-23 over Ospreys, and the Warriors will be hoping to build on this result and continue their excellent record against Scarlets which has seen them win their last five matches versus the Welsh side.
As well as the live action, there will also be a package of half-time features and interviews, with BBC ALBA’s Rugbaidh Beò team following Scotland and Warriors No 8 Richie Vernon to the Glasgow Gaelic School where he attended a Scottish Rugby schools training programme.
Meanwhile, coverage of the Edinburgh match will begin at 6:00pm on Saturday with the game kicking-off at 6:05pm. Joining the team in the studio will be Scotland legend Scott Hastings, the outside-centre who won 65 caps for his country during an illustrious playing career.
Edinburgh go into the match on the back of three successive victories in the Magners League, last week emerging with a 21-16 win over Ulster from their clash at Murrayfield.
The teams have already met on league duty this season, with Rob Moffat’s men running out 32-24 winners over Leinster last month. However, Edinburgh remain without a win in Dublin since 2005.
During the programme we will look at Edinburgh’s physio team as they work to get players back to full fitness. The team discovers how changes in the game over recent years has impacted on injuries, and we speak to physios including Stuart Paterson, head of the Edinburgh treatment team, as they work on players such as Phil Godman, Craig Hamilton and Fraser Brown.
BBC ALBA has signed an exclusive deal to show live Magners League rugby in Scotland for the next four years. The channel is committed to showing at least eight Edinburgh or Glasgow home matches per season, and has teamed up with Irish, Welsh and Italian broadcasters to also provide live coverage of selected away matches for both sides.
