BBC ALBA’S LIVE MAGNERS LEAGUE COVERAGE CONTINUES THIS WEEKEND WITH MUNSTER V EDINBURGH
Munster v Edinburgh
BBC ALBA – Friday 18th February 19:45
BBC ALBA’s rugby coverage returns this weekend with live coverage of Munster v Edinburgh from the Thormond Park, Limerick.
Coverage of the match will begin this Friday at 7.45pm and will be presented by Murray MacLeod, with expert studio analysis provided by Edinburgh Number 8, Stuart McInally. The match itself will begin at 7.50pm, with commentary courtesy of Hugh Dan MacLennan and DJ MacIntyre.
Edinburgh go into the game looking to improve on their recent form having lost their last four matches in all competitions, including last week’s 30-22 defeat at the hands of Newport Gwent Dragons.
However, Edinburgh come up against a Munster side who remain seven points clear at the top of the Magners League despite last week’s loss to Benetton Treviso and will prove difficult opponents as they look to maintain their unbeaten record at home in all competitions this season.
The last match between the sides was in September at Murrayfield, with Munster running out 16-13 winners through a try from Donncha O'Callaghan and points from the boots of Ronan O'Gara and Paul Warwick. Edinburgh’s response came through a Tim Visser try plus two penalties and a conversion from Chris Paterson.
As well as the live action, there will also be a package of half-time features and interviews including a visit to a fun rugby session hosted by Edinburgh players for youngsters from the St Andrews area.
We also speak to Munster wing Ian Dowling and hooker Denis Fogarty who take part in our Q&A feature and provide an insight into their daily lives and their rugby careers so far.
BBC ALBA has signed an exclusive deal to show live Magners League rugby in Scotland until the 2013/14 season. The channel is committed to showing at least eight Edinburgh or Glasgow home matches per season, and has teamed up with Irish and Welsh broadcasters to also provide live coverage of selected away matches for both sides.
