BBC ALBA’S MAGNERS LEAGUE COVERAGE CONTINUES WITH A LIVE GLASGOW & EDINBURGH DOUBLE HEADER
Glasgow Warriors v Ulster BBC ALBA – Friday 25th March 20:00
Edinburgh v Ospreys BBC ALBA – Saturday 26th March 18:25
BBC ALBA’s rugby coverage returns this week with two live Magners League matches as Glasgow host Ulster and Edinburgh face Ospreys.
Coverage of the Glasgow match will begin this Friday at 8:00pm and the game itself will start at 8.05pm.
Warriors gained their first Magners League victory of 2011 at home to Treviso last Friday and they’ll be looking to build on this win against an Ulster side who have lost only one of their last eight games in all competitions.
The last meeting between the teams was at Ravenhill in October when Ulster ran out 19-17 victors. South African scrum-half Ruan Pienaar scored all of Ulster’s points on his debut with Glasgow’s points achieved through a DTH van der Merwe try and four penalties from Duncan Weir.
Meanwhile, coverage of the Edinburgh match will begin at 6:25pm on Saturday with the game kicking-off at 6:30pm.
Joining presenter Murray MacLeod in the studio for the game will be Edinburgh and Scotland flanker Alan MacDonald. Commentary will be provided by Hugh Dan MacLennan.
Also featuring on the show will be a half-time look at training undertaken by the Edinburgh squad. Murray MacLeod went to Murrayfield as the team went through their paces and he got the chance to try his hand at throwing and the scrummaging machine alongside players including Kyle Traynor, David Young and Alun Walker.
Edinburgh will be looking to improve their recent form which has seen them slip to seven consecutive defeats but they face an Ospreys side sitting in second place who have won their last seven matches.
Ospreys triumphed 33-16 in the last encounter between the sides in December at the Liberty Stadium and will be hoping to replicate their form when they visit Murrayfield, a ground they have not won at since 2007.
BBC ALBA has signed an exclusive deal to show live Magners League rugby in Scotland until the 2013/14 season. The channel is committed to showing at least eight Edinburgh or Glasgow home matches per season, and has teamed up with Irish and Welsh broadcasters to also provide live coverage of selected away matches for both sides.
