MAGNERS LEAGUE CLASH - OSPREYS RUGBY V GLASGOW WARRIORS - LIVE ON BBC ALBA
Ospreys Rugby v Glasgow Warriors
BBC ALBA – Saturday 5th March 17:25
BBC ALBA’s live coverage of Magners League rugby continues this week as Glasgow Warriors travel to the Liberty Stadium to face Ospreys.
Coverage of the match will begin this Saturday at 5.25pm and will be presented by Murray MacLeod, with commentary courtesy of Hugh Dan MacLennan and Donald Smith. The match itself will begin at 5.30pm.
Last week’s round of matches saw Glasgow end their recent run of defeats with a 16-16 draw at home to Newport Gwent Dragons. Although the draw provided a boost to Sean Lineen’s men, they’ll need to improve further in order to achieve a first ever away win against the Ospreys.
Ospreys currently sit second in the Magners League and are currently on a sequence of six successive victories in all competitions. Scott Johnson’s players are also defending an excellent home record, with eight wins in a row at the Liberty Stadium.
However, Glasgow will take heart from the last meeting between the sides when Warriors ran out 31-23 victors at Firhill Stadium in late October. Points from Richie Gray, Duncan Weir, Kevin Tkachuk, Ruaridh Jackson and Richie Vernon were enough to secure the win, with Ospreys response coming through kicks from Dan Biggar and a hat-trick of tries from Nikki Walker.
As well as the live action, there will also be half-time features and interviews including a chat with Scotland and Glasgow player Graeme Morrison. The centre, who recently signed a new two-year deal to stay with Warriors, reflects on his time at the club and also what he hopes to achieve during the rest of his career. The Hong Kong-born Number 10 also gives us an insight into his life in our Q&A feature.
BBC ALBA has signed an exclusive deal to show live Magners League rugby in Scotland until the 2013/14 season. The channel is committed to showing at least eight Edinburgh or Glasgow home matches per season, and has teamed up with Irish and Welsh broadcasters to also provide live coverage of selected away matches for both sides.
