SCOTLAND v GEORGIA – LIVE TELEVISION COVERAGE OF WOMEN’S FIFA WORLD CUP QUALIFIER ON BBC ALBA
Football fans across the country will be able to watch Scotland Women’s next FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011 qualifier against Georgia this Thursday 29th October exclusively live on BBC ALBA.

Coverage of the match will begin at 7.25pm and can be viewed on BBC ALBA, which is available on Sky channel 168 and on Freesat channel 110.
Scotland will be hoping to continue their good start to the qualifying campaign, after their 1-0 victory over Greece on Saturday. Arsenal defender Jennifer Beattie’s goal was enough to secure three points away from home in Athens and it is hoped that home advantage, and the support of fans at Tynecastle and watching at home, will spur on the players and help maintain the 100% record in the group.
Live coverage of this match will complement BBC ALBA’s premier sports package which is being provided in association with mneTV to broadcast as-live coverage of one Clydesdale Bank Premier League match every Saturday night, on BBC ALBA over the next season.
Alan Esslemont, Head of Content for BBC ALBA said: “This is an important qualifying match for the Scotland Women’s team and I wish them the best of luck against Georgia. Allowing games like these to be seen on BBC ALBA will not only delight the fans who cannot make it along to the game in person but hopefully also further raise the profile of the Women’s national side to new viewers.
“There is already a large and dedicated fanbase of women’s football and it is great that this match can be enjoyed and supported throughout Scotland. As a channel we seek to support a variety of sports across the country and we hope this successful coverage will continue and be complemented by a Scotland win on Thursday.”
