COWDENBEATH V BRECHIN CITY PLAY-OFF FINAL LIVE ON BBC ALBA
BBC ALBA will this week screen exclusive live coverage of the SFL IRN-BRU First Division Play-Off Final between Cowdenbeath and Brechin City.
The first leg from Central Park, Cowdenbeath will kick off this Wednesday at 7.45pm, with the programme beginning at 7.40pm. Sunday’s return leg at Glebe Park, Brechin, will kick off at 3pm with match coverage starting at 2.55pm.
After good results at the semi-final stage, both teams will go into the final with confidence. Cowdenbeath, who finished third in the Second Division, defeated Alloa 3-1 on aggregate to book a spot in the final.
Fourth placed Brechin booked their final place after beating First Division Airdrie in the semis, a result which condemned the Diamonds to relegation.
Honours have been even so far between Cowdenbeath and Brechin this season, with two draws and one win apiece. However, Brechin will go into the tie looking for revenge after suffering a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Cowdenbeath in late April, with the Blue Brazil’s goals courtesy of Darren MacGregor, Gareth Wardlaw and a double from Paul McQuade.
The live action, which will also be available via BBC iPlayer, marks the culmination of a five-game package from the Scottish Football League shown on BBC ALBA this season. The coverage will be produced by mneTV for BBC ALBA and will be hosted by Gaelic sports anchor Calum Macaulay.
