TWO SPL MATCHES TO BE BROADCAST EXCLUSIVELY ON BBC ALBA
Spòrs – Tuesday 30th March at 10pm and Wednesday 31st March at 10pm
Football fans will this week get the chance to watch two exciting SPL games ‘as-live’ exclusively on BBC ALBA.
The two matches, St Johnstone v Rangers and Hibernian v Dundee United, will be shown in their entirety and will be vital matches as the season enters its final stages. The match action will be shown on Spòrs accompanied by a package of special interviews and features.
The first clash, St Johnstone v Rangers, will be shown on BBC ALBA on Tuesday 30th March at 10pm. A win for the Perth side would put them within two points of catching sixth-place Hearts ahead of the forthcoming SPL split. Meanwhile, Rangers will be hoping to put further distance between themselves and second-placed Celtic and continue their good run of form against the Saints, with two league wins and one cup victory already this season.
As well as the match coverage, Spòrs will also have interviews with St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes and Rangers assistant manager Ally McCoist.
On Wednesday, Hibernian v Dundee United will be shown as-live from Easter Road, again starting at 10pm. With Dundee United sitting in third, two points ahead of fourth placed Hibs, the match is likely to be a hard-fought tussle. Hibs’ form since February has faltered but they will anticipate following up their weekend win over Falkirk with another positive result. Their opponents, Dundee United, will be happy if they can repeat their January 1-0 win over the Leith men and consolidate their hopes of finishing in third.
Also on the show is a look at the redevelopment of Easter Road, where manager John Hughes and Hibs ‘famous five’ legend Lawrie Reilly discuss how the stadium has changed over the years.
Away from football, Spòrs goes behind the scenes at the Glasgow Rocks basketball team with player coach Sterling Davis ahead of their Easter clashes with London Capital and Guildford Heat.
BBC ALBA is providing a premier sports package in association with mneTV to provide as-live coverage of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League on BBC ALBA over the course of the season.
