FilmG Awards – MG ALBA celebrates new talent

In spite of blizzard conditions throughout Scotland hopeful film makers, school pupils, parents, friends, the media and politicians- even a famous face or two gathered in Inverness to celebrate the success of FilmG and reveal it’s winners.

There was air of excitement as the winners in each category were announced. Presenting the prizes were members of the FilmG judging panel accompanied by renowned Gaelic actor, David Walker, presenter Janice Ann MacKay, BAFTA winning director Don Coutts and presenting the People’s Choice award, Eilbheis and Still Game star, Greg Hemphill.

Live music from Skye and Glasgow based band Injuns opened the second half of the show, and hosts Calum ‘Caxy’ MacAuley of popular BBC show De a Nis? and BBC ALBA presenter Fiona MacKenzie brought their sparkling personalities and a touch of glamour to the evening.

So who won? The full list of prize winners is available on the FilmG website but we can tell you that in the professional category, Uisdean Murray from North Uist won the top prize with his beautiful film Suibhlachan.
