Open letter from MG ALBA

A chàirdean chòir

Two months ago, we asked for your help in securing a better BBC service for you.

Although BBC ALBA and BBC Radio nan Gàidheal are successful, we at MG ALBA want them to be even better for you.

In October, we shared our message that we believe the BBC should do more in order to provide a more complete service on BBC ALBA.

Many of you helped us in making that argument clear to the UK Government through its consultation on the BBC Royal Charter. We also had the opportunity to make the case at the House of Commons’ Select Committee on Culture, Media and Sport. We are grateful to every individual and organisation who took the time to make the case for more investment from the BBC. Many thanks to you all.

We now know that we will not receive £1m from the UK Government as we have in the past two years. We continue to make arguments for increased investment however, and we are writing to ask if you might help us again make the case for stronger services for you.

Litir fhosgailte bho MG ALBA

A chàirdean chòir

O chionn dà mhìos, dh’iarr sinn oirbh ar cuideachadh gus seirbheis nas coileanta fhaighinn dhuibh.

Oir ged a tha BBC ALBA agus BBC Radio nan Gàidheal soirbheachail, tha sinn aig MG ALBA ag iarraidh gum bi iad nas fheàrr buileach dhuibh.

San Dàmhair, sgaoil sinn ar beachd gu bheil barrachd a dhìth bhon BhBC airson ’s gum bi seirbheis nas coileanta ga thabhann le BBC ALBA.

Chuidich mòran agaibh ann a bhith a’ dèanamh na h-argamaid sin soilleir do Riaghaltas na Rìoghachd Aonaichte tron cho-chomhairle mu ùrachadh Cairt Rìoghail a’ BhBC, agus fhuair sinn fhèin ar cothrom mu choinneimh Comataidh Taigh nan Cumantan air Cultar, Meadhanan agus Spòrs. Tha sinn gu mòr an comain gach neach is buidheann a chuir ùine seachad a’ dèanamh argamaid airson barrachd sheilbheachd bhon BhBC. Ceud mìle taing dhuibh uile.

Tha fios a-nis nach fhaighear an £1m bho Riaghaltas na RA mar a fhuair san dà bhliadhna mu dheireadh. A dh’aindeoin seo, leanaidh sinn le ar n-argamaidean airson an tuilleadh sheilbheachd agus tha sinn a’ sgrìobhadh thugaibh faic am biodh sibh cho math agus ar cuideachadh a-rithist ann a bhith a’ dèanamh argamaidean airson seirbheisean nas treasa dhuibh.

Buill Bòrd: MG ALBA

Tha Ofcom airson dà bhall ùr a shuidheachadh air bòrd MG ALBA.

Is e raon-dleastanais MG ALBA dèanamh cinnteach gu bheil prògraman ann an Gàidhlig de dh’àrd-chàileachd air an tairgse do mhuinntir na h-Alba. Ann an com-pàirteachas leis a’ BhBC, tha MG ALBA air BBC ALBA, an t-seirbheis didseatach Gàidhlig, a stèidheachadh.

Tha am bòrd a’ cur feum air raon farsaing de sgilean agus de dh’eòlas. Tha e riatanach, ge-tà gu bheil eòlas aig an luchd-tagraidh air a bhith ag adhartachadh an dàrna cuid foghlam no cultar na Gàidhlig; eòlas de agus/no ùidh gnìomhach ann an craoladh; agus tuigse air uallaichean MG ALBA.

Thuirt a’ Bh-uas Choineagan: “Tha sinn a’ leantainn oirnn a’ toirt dlùth aire gu bheil prìomhachas air a thoirt dhan Ghàidhlig anns gach prògram.
