FINALISTS ANNOUNCED IN NATIONAL SHORT FILM AWARDS
VOTE NOW FOR PEOPLE’S CHOICE

FilmG, MG ALBA’s Gaelic online media shorts competition has now announced its short-list of films for this year’s award ceremony which takes place next month at The Old Fruitmarket, Glasgow.

Having received a record 71 entries from all over Scotland and beyond, it was a difficult job for the judges to pick out the best in each category. The jury panels comprised BBC ALBA executives and experienced broadcast industry representatives from across Scotland, who gave of their time and expertise to choose the best of this year’s digital shorts.

With 37 short films entered in the 12-17 age-group category and 34 entries in the Adult category competition is tight for the top awards.

All of this year’s FilmG entries and the short-listed films are available to view on the FilmG website at www.filmg.co.uk, where you can also vote for your favourite short film to win the prestigious People’s Choice Award. Voting for the People’s Choice Award will close on 31st of January.

Donald Campbell, Chief Executive of MG ALBA, said: “This year’s FilmG competition has surpassed our expectations in terms of the number of films entered as well as the high calibre of entries received across the categories. We are delighted with the level of creative talent emerging through our FilmG competition and we are encouraging as many people as possible to get behind the short-listed finalists by voting for their favourite film online.”

The year’s FilmG Awards ceremony will take place at The Old Fruitmarket, Glasgow on Friday 18 February 2011 at a prestigious night celebrating the talent behind the entries with screenings of the winning films plus live music from ‘Mànran’, whose debut single, ‘Latha Math’, was released this week.
