Challenge Cup Final on BBC ALBA Cupa Dùbhlan an h-Alba air BBC ALBA

BBC ALBA – Sunday 7 April 4.00pm

BBC ALBA – Didòmhnaich 7 Giblean 4.00f

BBC ALBA will this weekend televise exclusive live coverage of the Ramsdens Cup final between Queen of the South v Partick Thistle.

Coverage of the match from Braidwood Motor Company Stadium in Livingston begins on the channel at 4.00pm, with kick-off at 4.05pm. Coverage will be presented by Calum Macaulay, with commentary from Derek MacKay and Alex O’Henley. Calum will also be joined for trackside analysis by Ian McCall, former manager of both clubs.

Sunday’s final will see newly crowned Second Division champions Queen of the South face Partick Thistle, who currently sit top of the First Division and are bidding for a return to the top flight for the first time since the 2003-2004 season.

Queen’s path to the final included wins over Dumbarton, Morton and Rangers before a 2-1 extra time victory over Arbroath secured the Doonhamers place in the final.

Thistle also negotiated a tricky route to the final, playing Clyde, Queen's Park and Raith Rovers before a hard-fought 1-0 win over Cowdenbeath in the semi-final.

With both teams in a rich vein for form this season, establishing a firm favourite for the final will be difficult. It is more than a year since their last encounter, when Partick registered a 5-0 win at Palmerston Park in a First Division clash. However, with the two teams considerably changed since that meeting, little can be read into that scoreline ahead of this weekend’s final.

In terms of previous Challenge Cup success, it is Queen of the South who lead the way, lifting the trophy in 2002-2003 after a 2-0 win over Brechin, and also finishing runners-up on two further occasions, including the 2010-2011 season. For Thistle, Sunday will be their first time in the Challenge Cup final.

As well as the live action on the pitch, there will be a package of half-time features involving both sides. At Queen of the South we speak to assistant manager Sandy Clark and his striker son Nicky, who has hit more than 30 goals in a hugely successful season so far.

At Thistle, we also chat to a father and son - striker Steven Craig and his father Joe, the former Partick Thistle and Celtic player.

The Challenge Cup final coverage will be produced by mneTV, one of Scotland’s leading sports production companies, and complements BBC ALBA’s premier sports package, which includes coverage of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League every Saturday night, plus exclusive live rugby action from the RaboDirect PRO12 league.

Bidh an geama eadar Queen of the South agus Partick Thistle ann an Cupa Dùbhlan na h-Alba beò air BBC ALBA a-mhàin air an deireadh sheachdain.

A’ tighinn bho Stadium Braidwood Motor Company ann an Baile Lèibhinn, tòisichidh am prògram aig 4.00f. Gheibhear còmhradh bho Calum MacAmhlaigh, Derek MacAoidh agus Alex O’Henley. Bidh Calum cuideachd a’ bruidhinn ri Ian McCall a chleachd a bhith na mhanaidsear air an dà sgioba.

Thèid am prògram a riochdachadh le mneTV.
