Scotland women’s FIFA World Cup 2015 qualifier against the Faroe Islands will be shown exclusively live by BBC ALBA this weekend.

Coverage of the match from Fir Park, Motherwell, will start on Saturday at 5.25pm, with kick-off at 5.30pm. Commentary will be provided by Alex O’Henley with analysis from Celtic and Scotland striker Suzanne Grant.

Coverage of Scotland’s vital qualifying tie leads BBC ALBA’s weekend football action which also includes highlights of the Scottish Premiership matches Partick Thistle v Inverness Caledonian Thistle and St Johnstone v Dundee.

The live action sees Scotland enter the match looking to maintain the pressure on Sweden, with Anna Signeul’s side sitting second three points behind the Group 4 leaders.

The Scots’ opponents on Saturday sit joint bottom of the standings, with two draws from their eight fixtures so far. One of those matches was in September when the Faroes hosted Scotland at Tórsvøllur and the visitors recorded a comprehensive 7-2 win thanks to a Leanne Ross brace plus strikes from Rachel Corsie, Lisa Evans, Jane Ross, Suzanne Lappin and Suzanne Mulvey.

At half-time we hear in detail from Shelley Kerr, who made history earlier this season when she became the first female manager in Scottish senior football with Stirling University. The 44 year old took over at the Lowland League side in August following a season in charge of Arsenal Ladies. We also hear from Kim Little, who is set to win her 100th Scotland cap against the Faroes. The Seattle Reign player recalls her international career to date for BBC ALBA viewers.

The best action from the Scottish Premiership will start later on Saturday, with coverage of Partick Thistle v Inverness Caledonian Thistle from Firhill being screened from 10.00pm until 11.00pm.

Our Sunday highlights package sees a Tayside clash as St Johnstone host Dundee at McDiarmid Park, Perth. Action from that match will again be shown from 10.00pm until 11.00pm.

Football coverage is being produced for the channel by mneTV, with BBC ALBA providing a premier sports package that also covers action from the Scottish Premiership, Ramsdens Cup, live shinty as well as live PRO12 league rugby.

BBC ALBA is a partnership service between MG ALBA and BBC Scotland to deliver high quality, distinctive home-produced programming.
